Get to know me, and get to know my skills with game design.

A Game Designer, Among Other Things

I’ve been a part of the games industry for over 8 years. In that time, my primary focus has been systems and tech design, but I am invariably called to extend my effort and expertise beyond my charter to become something of an “odds and ends” person. I’ve often been turned to as a “fixer” and “closer” because of my deep understanding of the tools and processes that the team is building with. My thirst for knowledge and easy grasp of complex systems means that I have been a consistent source of mentorship and knowledge across multiple toolsets.

I love collaborating with other knowledgeable designers, and often seek the advice of whomever has contrasting ideals and processes so that I can make a better, more holistic design. As a Systems Designer, I’m often called on to analyze multiple audiences, and this process has really helped me feed into that as a strategy for design.

Beyond work, my life is filled with a variety of interests and hobbies. I recently got into cosplay, I have a couple tattoos, I do all kinds of handy man work, from plumbing to car repair, and I take the time to enjoy the natural beauty of Upstate New York.

I have a passionate love of game stories. My top three game stories are Mass Effect, God of War: Ragnarok, and Horizon: Zero Dawn. The interactive medium of a video game is a barely-tapped frontier for both player and developer expression, and I’m proud to be part of that frontier, developing features and playing the games I love to build.
